Willie Varner Hills, Sr., 68 of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on July 25, 2012 surround by his family at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring. He was born on May 26, 1944 in Hahira, GA to parents Maggie (Wright) and Joe Hills. Willie served his country in the US Army during Vietnam. He moved to Lake Placid forty years ago from Georgia and was in the fruit and vegetables harvesting business. Mr. Hills was a member of the American Legion Placid Post 25, VFW Post 1224, Masonic Lodge and the Greater Bethel AME Methodist Church. Mr. Hills loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Voncille; daughters, Brenda Hills-Scott, Regina Hills, Latoya Hills, Alisha Robinson, Priscilla Jenkins; sons, Willie Jr., Nicholas Hills, Joe Hardy and Patrick Jenkins; 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and a brother, Charles Anderson. A service to celebrate Mr. Hills life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday August 4, 2012 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid. Pastor Cynthia A. Langston will be leading the celebration. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard. Cremation arrangements entrusted with the Scott Funeral Home.
