William P. Plajer, 94, of Lake Placid, FL., passed away Tuesday evening August 27, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born in Alliance, OH on September 16, 1918 to Anna and Peter Plajer. William served his country in the US Navy during WWII. Mr. Plajer and his wife moved from Alliance, OH to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1968 and has been a resident of Lake Placid for over 20 years. He was a carpenter and worked as a construction superintendant both in Ohio and Florida. William was a member of the American Legion, Saxon Club and a life member of the Elks Lodge 467 in Alliance, OH. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Kathryn (Shultz); daughter, Nancy Duskey (Thomas) of Tucson, Arizona; and brother, Robert Plajer of Alliance, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents Anna and Peter and a sister, Helen Hoppes. A memorial service to celebrate William's life will be held this fall at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alliance where he was a life long member. Inurnment will follow at the Alliance City Cemetery.
