William Rufus Hobart, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday,September 30. He was born June 17, 1935 in Auburn, ME, graduated from Wells High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Shriners, the International Royal Order of Jesters, West Broward Masonic Lodge, the Moose Lodge, and the Elks. He was retired from the Hollywood Police Department and the Broward County Sheriff's department. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George and Louise, 3 brothers, George, Philip, and Norman, 1 sister, Pauline. Also sadly preceded in death by his 2 children, Susan and Glen and a stepson Nick Burch, and 2 wives, Shirley and Dottie. Bill is survived by his loving wife Marlys, 3 grandchildren,Keith (Ashley), Christopher, and Cirsti, 5 great grandchildren, Aiden, Hayley, Kole, Austin and Kayley, sister Carolyn, brother Gerald, and many nieces and nephews. He also so loved his surviving "Georgia " family, 2 stepdaughters, Chrissy(Mark) Anderson and Lisa Picariello, and many grandchildren. Bill loved road trips and cruising in his old Lincolns. He was a very brilliant and loving man and was admired by everyone who knew him.
