William Thomas Douglas, 86, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord on Friday afternoon, November 16, 2018 at his residence. William, the son of Muriel (Sarah) and John Douglas, was born on June 22, 1932 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He served his country with honors in the Wisconsin National Guard for 10 years achieving the rank of Master Sergeant.
William went to work for the Wisconsin Electric Power Company starting as an electrician helper and retiring as an electrical construction supervisor after 42 years of service. William was a Scout Master for 25 years who enjoyed working with his sons, their friends and other boys in the Scouts. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Placid, an active member of the Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce and could be seen helping out at the many community events. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and Alaska and loved to be with his family and friends anytime they could get together.
William is preceded in death by his loving son Ricky John and infant son Mark Douglas. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Joy, daughters; Cheryl Lynn Houghton (Dewey), Wendy Marie Haefs (Kurt), sons; James William Douglas (TJ), Donald Peter Douglas (Karen), Paul Warren Douglas (Lisa), John William Douglas, many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate William's life will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Trinity Lutheran Church 25 Lakeview Street Lake Placid with Rev. Richard Norris officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to service time. The family suggests donations in William's memory to the Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
