Obituary

William "Bill, Brownie" R. Brown, 95, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Thursday morning, October 22, 2015 at The Manor at Lake Jackson in Sebring. He was the son of Julia Williams and Louis Thomas Brown who was born on November 9, 1919 in Atlanta, GA. After graduating from Miami Senior High School Bill went to work for Southern Bell and retired as a head engineer with 37 years of service in the Coral Gables district. Bill was a weekend resident in Lake Placid from 1960 to 1975, becoming a permanent resident after retiring. An avid fisherman Brownie enjoyed fishing the waters of Chokoloskee with his friends and local lakes. Brownie had a passion for working on boat motors, especially Mercury motors. He loved to be with his family and friends. Bill never knew a stranger. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Placid Lakes. Bill is preceded in death by his first wife Marie S. Brown; son, Dean Brown and brother, L.T. Brown. He is survived by his wife of 14 years Fran; daughters Deborah Ashby and Karen Brown Dunlap; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate Brownie's was held 12 Noon Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd, Lake Placid with Rev. Johnny Bryant officiating. A second service to celebrate Bill's life will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Placid Lakes 116 Cleveland Avenue NE, Lake Placid with Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating. The family suggests donation in Bill's memory to The Manor at Lake Jackson 2301 US 27 S. Sebring, FL 33870 and the Alzheimer's Association 14010 Roosevelt Blvd., Suite 709 Clearwater, FL 33762-3820.
