Wilbert F. Lane, 88, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Sunday afternoon February 12, 2012 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. He was born on June 7, 1923 in Chichester, NH to parents Charles and Dorothy (Farley) Lane. He served in the US Merchant Marines during WWII. Mr. Lane moved to Lake Placid first as a winter resident then becoming a fulltime resident after retirement as a welder with heavy equipment. Mr. Lane efficiently known by his friends as "Mr. Fixit" could repair most anything that was broken and he was of the Christian Faith. Mr. Lane is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Kathy. A service to celebrate Mr. Lane's life will be held 10:00 AM Saturday February 18, 2012 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Rev. Harold Ross celebrating. The family suggest donations be made in Mr. Lane's memory to the American Cancer Society 3709 W. Jetton Avenue, Tampa, FL 33629-5146 or the charity of your choice.
