Walton A. Gobbel, 85, of Sebring went to be with his Lord on Monday night July 2, 2012 at the Hope Hospice in Sebring. A native Miamian, he was born on January 6, 1927 to parents Minnie (Rugg) and Everett V. Goebel. Mr. Gobbel served his country in the US Navy during WWII. A retired truck driver with Maule Industries in Miami he moved to Lake Placid in 1984. Mr. Gobbel severed as a Deacon for many years in several churches where he helped to build both the church building and their congregations. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching western movies, and volunteering with the Venus Fire Department. Mr. Gobbel loved to spend time with his family, his church family, and his friends. Mr. Gobbel was a member of the First Baptist Church of Placid Lakes. Mr. Gobbel is preceded in death by his loving wife if 65 years, Delphine "Jean" and is survived by his loving daughters, Paulette Killen, Martha Phipps (Steve), and Patricia Pisapia (Dennis); 6 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren and a sister, Wilma Brantley. A graveside service with military honors by the VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard will be held 3:00 PM Thursday July 5, 2012 (Today) at the Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park.
