Walter L. Fulmer, II, born August 12, 1913 in Wilmington, Delaware to Horace Knowles Fulmer and Laura Bell Gebhart Fulmer, died Sunday May 30, 2010. He served in the rank of Staff Sergeant, Headquarters Company 644, Tank Destroyer Battalion in World War II under General George S. Patton and was honorably discharged from the United States Army October 14, 1945 having been a part of many campaigns including, Normandy, Ardennes-Alsace, Battle of the Bulge and the Rhineland. He was also stationed in Paris. Walter retired from Chrysler Motors in 1976 and relocated to Miami serving as manager of Coral Gables Elks Lodge #1676 until 1989. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post of Miami #1608 and a member of The American Legion Post 25, Lake Placid. Serving as Elder Emeritus, he was an active member of Eastside Christian Church in Lake Placid. Survivors include his wife, Elinor Griffin Fulmer, of Lake Placid; his daughter Gail Hamway (Joe) of Chipley and his son Walter L. Fulmer (Marcella) of Williston, Vermont; also one grandson Christopher Fulmer of Williston, Vermont; and special children, Jackie and Randy Ludwig, Lake Placid. Step-daughters, Diane (Craig) Castanien, Longwood, FL., Susan Cosens and step granddaughter, Elizabeth Cosens both of Orlando. He will also be remembered by many friends and extended family. A service celebrating Walter's life will be held at the Eastside Christian Church 101 Peace Avenue, Lake Placid, Saturday June 5th at 2:00 PM with Pastor Stephen Bishop celebrating. Military honors will be presented by the VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard.
