Thomas Wayne Maulden, Sr., "Wayne", 67, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Monday afternoon November 8, 2010 at the HealthSouth RidgeLake Hospital in Sarasota. Wayne was born in Coffee County, AL on January 14, 1943 to parents Dain and Murphy (Downing) Maulden. He was raised in Frostproof and moved to Lake Placid in 1968. He served his country in the US Army stationed in Germany during the Viet Nam conflict. Wayne retired from the citrus industry where he worked for Lake Placid Groves as general manager and West Lake Produce as a broker. He was involved with many organizations surrounding the citrus industry, a Board of Director with the Florida Citrus Packers Association serving on the Orange Specialty Committee, long time shipper member of the Citrus Administrative Committee who set the size and grade regulation for fresh fruit, long time member of the Highlands County Citrus Growers Association, serving on the Board of Directors 2001-2003, past president of Florida Citrus Sales Managers Association, he was featured in the Who's Who, was past president with the Dixie Youth Baseball as well as a long time coach, coached PeeWee football, help with JV and Varsity football squad at the Lake Placid High School. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved spending time with his family and friends. Wayne was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Placid Lakes. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Gail, sons; Thomas Wayne, Jr., and Daniel Lance, 4 grandchildren; Alexis, Daniel, Chelsea and Eli, 6 sisters; Margaret Lewis, Jessie Lewis, Frances Evans, Evelyn Milam, Carole Gavin and Joann Reeves and a brother Daniel Fox Maulden. A gathering for family and friends will be held at 2:00 PM Monday November 15, 2010 with a celebration of life service to follow at 2:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Placid Lakes 116 Cleveland Avenue NE, Lake Placid, FL., with Pastor Darryl George celebrating. In lieu of flowers the Maulden Family would suggest donations be made to the Salvation Army, Disabled Veterans, or your favorite charities as a celebration of Wayne's faith and goodwill
