Thelma Irene Lukens, 100, of Lake Placid, Florida, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday morning, December 7, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring, Florida. She was born on July 1, 1917 in Vici, OK. Mrs. Lukens witnessed a century's worth of life style and work place changes in her lifetime. She moved to Lake Placid with her husband, Jack, 26 years ago, from Eau Claire, Michigan. She was a member of the Lake Placid Moose Lodge, VFW Post 3880 and the American Legion Placid Post 25. She delighted in working around her home on the lake and in fishing, boating and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and looked forward to time spent her grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, Leslie "Mac" McLaughlin who passed away December 16, 1970 and her second husband, Jack D. Lukens, who passed away on September 9, 2017; also by one grandson, Larry Douglas McLaughlin. Mrs. Lukens is survived by her loving children; daughters Shirley Stremme and Pat Friske, son, Larry McLaughlin (Donna), step-son Mickey Lukens (Diane), step-daughter Candice Lukens Flora (Jeff), 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
