Mrs. Sofia Mercedes Rady, 75. of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Wednesday afternoon July 8, 2015 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. She was the daughter of Hortensia Marrero and Sergio Diaz who was born on September 30, 1939 in Yaguajay, Cuba. Sofia moved to the United States in 19( ) and settled in Noblesville, IN where she retired as an ice cream packer. Mrs. Rady was a member of the Teamsters Local 135 in Indianapolis, IN. After retiring she moved to Lake Placid in 1996. Sofia was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed gardening around the house and baking for her family. Mrs. Rady love to be with her family and friends. Mrs. Rady is survived by her loving husband of 40 years John; sons, Sergio and Jorge; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Marta Sueiras and a brother, Jose Diaz. A funeral service to celebrate Sofia's life will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Father Marcial Garcia celebrating. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time.
