Shirley L. Thompson-McKeown, 79, of Lake Placid, FL went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Balmoral Assisted Living in Lake Placid.  Shirley was born on May 24, 1945, in Scottsburg, Indiana and she was the daughter of Martha (Parker) and Floyd Dowell.  Shirley has been a resident of Lake Placid for several years, moving here from Lynn, Indiana.  She was of the Christian faith.  Shirley was an avid reader of the Bible who enjoyed gardening, being outside watching the sunsets.  She loved to be with her family and friends whenever they could get together, especially spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren.  Shirley is preceded in death by her loving son Kirk Thompson, and she is survived by her loving daughters, Michelle Marquis (John) and Monica Kerns (Kevin), 6 grandchildren; Taylor, Logan, Chloe, Brittani, Brandi, and Connor, 7 great-grandchildren; James, Karter, Rowan, Tristan, Sierra, Braylee and Madison.  A celebration of Shirley's life will be private.
