Shirley Mae Albertus Heike, 83, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Tuesday morning October 18, 2011 surrounded by her family at the Balmoral Assisted Living in Lake Placid. She was a wonderful, fun loving woman who had an unwavering faith in God. She never questioned God in spite of tragedies in her life, she always believed that God had a purpose, always looking for the good in everyone and never said anything bad about anyone. As a young girl, Shirley loved ice skating, music and singing and dancing. She sang with the "Sweet Adeline's", directed and sang in church choirs. A stay at home Mom for many years, then working for the Social Security Administration and also as an administrative assistant to Congressman Dante Fascell in Miami. She was a volunteer with the Florida Hospital Lake Placid since moving here in 1993. Mrs. Heike is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Lyle "Pete" Albertus; son, Alan Albertus and granddaughter, Heather Willey. Shirley is survived by her loving husband Marc Heike; daughter, Carol Willey; grandson, Chris Willey; daughter in law, Crystal Albertus and many other loving family members and friends. A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Heike's life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday October 22, 2011 at the Balmoral Assisted Living 93, Balmoral Drive, Lake Placid with Chaplain Jim Langham celebrating. A celebration of life service will also take place 11:00 AM on Saturday November 5, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church 25 Lakeview Avenue Lake Placid with Rev. Richard Norris celebrating.
