Sara Mae Powers, 80, of Venus went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday night, June 18, 2019 at the Hope Hospice House in Ft. Myers.  Sara was the daughter of Genevieve Whitney and Russell Cormier who was born on August 3, 1938 in Lakewood, Ohio. Sara has been a resident of Venus since 1972, moving here from Ft. Lauderdale with her husband William.  Sara was a long time member of the Venus United Methodist Church. Sara enjoyed coloring, working puzzles, spending and keeping in touch with her family and friends on face book. She loved to be with her family and friends anytime they could get together, especially her grand and great-grandchildren.  Sara is preceded in death by her loving husband William, her son Russell and sister; Jean Breese). She is survived by her loving children; Karoline Sakowski (Jeff), Kimberly Reed (James) Billy Powers (Carol), 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and her brother Russell "Bud" Cormier (Elgie). A gathering for family and friends to reflect on Sara's life will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 29, 2019 with a service to celebrate her life starting at 2:00 PM at the Venus United Methodist Church 962 CR 731 Venus with Pastor Roy Arms officiating.  Sara and her husband will be laid to rest at a later date in the Venus Cemetery.
