Sara Mae Matheny, 80, of Lake Placid went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday afternoon May 8, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Matheny was the daughter of Mary (Cummings) and Wilkins Newell who was born on August 25, 1937 in Buffalo, New York.  Sara was a retired Village Clerk and school bus driver in her beloved home town Bolivar NY.  She has been a resident of Lake Placid FL since (1997).  Sara enjoyed crossword puzzles, a good game of cards, sports and her Buffalo Bills.  She loved to spend time with her family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her sons; Robert and Patrick.  Sara is survived by her loving husband of 61 years John E. "Jack", daughter; Maureen Matheny-Petrilli, sons; David Matheny, Richard Matheny (Lilly), John Matheny (Cyndi), 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, also, many dear lifelong friends, especially Paul Wetzel, Robert Wetzel and Sue North.  A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Sara's life will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, May 11, 2018 (Today) at the St. James Catholic Church 3380 Placid View Drive, Lake Placid with Father Vincent Clemente officiating.  Words of comfort to the family can be made by visiting www.scottfuneralservices.com .  Funeral arrangements entrusted with the Scott Funeral Home 504 W.
