Roy Haskell Blevins, "Haskell", 92, of Lake Placid went home to Heaven Tuesday night December 28, 2010 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. He was born on May 25, 1918 in Illinois to parents W. T. and Anna (Hunt) Blevins. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Blevins spent much of his life in Campbellsville, KY, moving to Lake Placid in 1971 where he worked for Scotty's until retirement. Mr. Blevins enjoyed spending time with is family, loved to fish and was an active member of the Faith Baptist Church, the American Legion and most of all he loved his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Marie Blevins, daughter; Linda Keen (Buddy) son; David Blevins, grandchildren; Suzanne Brown, Jeff and Chris McCubbin, great grandchildren; Zack and Leah Brown, Brandon and Julia McCubbin, sisters; Delora Ford and Ina Tucker. A service to celebrate Haskell's life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday January 1, 2011 with a gathering for family and friends one hour prior at the Faith Baptist Church 660 Holmes Avenue, Lake Placid with Pastor Travis Hudson celebrating. Burial will be private at Oak Hill Cemetery.
