Rose M. Dilling, 60, of Lake Placid, died peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2014 after a yearlong struggle with cancer.
Rose was a Florida native, having grown up in Davie and relocating to Highlands County after spending 15 years in Alaska during the building of the pipeline. She was employed by the Sebring Police Department, Lake Placid Police Department, and until recently was a sworn deputy clerk for the Highlands County Clerk of Courts.
She is survived by her husband of over 20 years, Rod Dilling; two sister, Betsy Wineinger of Lake Placid and Susan Copier of Tennessee. She leaves behind stepson, Daniel Dilling and family of Brandon, FL, and stepdaughter, Shelley Thompson and family of Lake Mary, FL. She also had four step-grandchildren, two nephews, two great nieces, one great nephew and her mother-in-law, Dot Dilling of Pennsylvania.
There will be an hour of visitation beginning at 5:30 PM with a short Memorial Service immediately thereafter to be held at Scott Seawinds Funeral Home, 504 W. Interlake Blvd., in Lake Placid on Friday, December 19 with Pastor Joe Dehart officiating.
Rose's final request is that no guest wear black. She asks that you dress for the islands in bright colors as you come together to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, Rose requests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society for ovarian cancer research or to Good Shepherd Hospice.
