IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Dean
Moyers
September 9, 1946 – March 15, 2020
Ronald Dean Moyers was born in Montebello California on September 9th, 1946. He died in Lake Placid Florida on March 15th 2020 at the age of 73. Ron was the only child born to Betty Tolliver. He was married briefly and at age 19 and had one daughter, Ronda. He lived most of his life in California but also lived in New Mexico, Hawaii and Florida. While living in Hawaii Ron joined the rowing team. He enjoyed the scenic beauty, fresh air and the physical activity. He loved the Central California coast and spoke fondly of his time there. Ron worked as a paramedic for several years and retired from that field in the early 1990's. He was like an encyclopedia when it came to medical knowledge and enjoyed talking about it. He was a bit of a pool shark and loved a good competitive game. He also toyed with guitar playing here and there. He enjoyed animals and nature, with the exception of spiders. Spiders were his Kryptonite. His greatest passion was Karate, where he forged many lifelong friendships. He began practicing karate In 1970 and like other people starting out, he was clumsy, stiff and uncoordinated. He practiced for almost 50 years actively. He became experienced and taught many other Karateka practicing to gain self-confidence and skills in self-defense. He rose to the rank of yodan, 4 th degree black belt, in Shotokan karate and was very respected by his fellow karateka. He was a 'Genuine Karateka' pursuing his own interest without looking into anything else. He liked to pass his vast experience on to others by demonstrating and not by merely telling them. He despised a person who was all facade, and would take advantage of his goodwill. He enjoyed chatting with friends online and getting into lively political discussions. He is survived by his daughter Ronda (Daryll) Berna and Grandson, Michael Berna
