Robert James Simpson, 76, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord early Friday morning November 7, 2014 at the Southern Lifestyles Assisted Living Facility in Lake Placid. Robert was born on November 13, 1937 in Elizabeth, NJ to parents Elizabeth (Krommes) and Robert Simpson. Robert served his country with honors in the US Navy serving six tours in Vietnam as a radio operator and retiring with 20 years of active service. He then joined the US Navy Reserves for several more years of service. He worked for the Spring Lake Improvement District as a grounds keeper. Robert was a member of the VFW Post 4300 in Sebring, Lake Placid Elks Lodge 2661 and a past member of the Sebring Moose Lodge 2259, Sebring Eagles Club 4240, American Legion Placid Post 25 and Amvets Post 21 in Sebring. Robert enjoyed cross word puzzles, fishing, a good cold beer, working with ham radio operators, taking his wife breakfast at work and loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Simpson is survived by his loving wife Jeanne; sister, Harolynn Ruland (Bill); sisters-in-law, Janette Pomeroy and Becky Miketich; brother-in-law Jack Miketich (Margaret) and several nieces and nephews. A private service for the family was held to celebrate Robert's life.
