Robert Douglass Knutten, 68, of Lake Placid, FL, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday evening June 14, 2016 at the Vitas Hospice Unit in Sebring. He was the son of Constance Haroone and John W. Knutten who was born on July 17, 1947 in Fairport Harbor, OH. Robert served his country in the US Army. After his discharge, Robert went to work in law enforcement where he retired as a crime scene investigator for the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department. He moved to Lake Placid in 2014 from Dania Beach, FL. Robert was an avid reader who enjoyed fishing, boating, photography, being at the beach, and collecting guns and knives. He loved to be with his friends and extended family the police department. Robert was of the Lutheran faith. Robert is survived by his former wife and longtime friend Sandra Knutten. A service to celebrate Robert's life will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 22, 2016 with Pastor Donna McLaughlin at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid, FL. A visitation for friends will be held one hour prior to service time.
