Robert Richard Gootee, 84, of Lake Placid, FL, went home to be with his Lord on Monday night, July 27, 2026, at the AdventHealth Lake Placid Hospital. Robert was born on December 20, 1941, in Gary, Indiana and he was the son of Helen Mary (Suchey) and Robert Guerdon Gootee. He has been a resident of Lake Placid since 2013, moving here from Springfield, Ohio. He was a winter resident in the Naples area since 1999. Robert worked for many years in production management with Internation Harvester (Navistar) in the automotive sector- truck and engines. Robert retired from IH and then went back to work with them, traveling to many other states-countries setting up production lines to manufacture engines. Robert earned his community association managers license (CAM) and worked in condo management while in Naples. Robert was of the Catholic faith, a member of the Lake Placid Moose Lodge 2347, who enjoyed teaching and playing tennis and a great round of golf and he loved to be with family and friends. Robert is preceded in death by his grandson, Monty, and he is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Sharon, children; Laura Kay Gootee, Marcia Nichole Robinson (Bryon), Deborah Sue Gootee, William W. Hall, Jamela Paulus, Tracy Hardman (Amy), seven grandchildren; Jessica, Justin, Ashley, David, Heather, Brandon, Victoria, eighteen great-grandchildren whom he was close to all, and a brother; Guerdon S.
