Robert Edward Gibbs, 76, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Saturday afternoon July 2, 2016 at his residence. A native Miamian, Robert was born on May 25, 1940 to parents Mary (Jamison) and Robert Gibbs. He served his country with honors in the US Coast Guard. After retiring from Florida Power and Light Robert as a supervisor and his wife Gabriele moved to Lake Placid in 1995. Robert was a life member with the VFW Post 15010 and attended the St. James Catholic Church in Lake Placid. Robert enjoyed fishing the local lakes and waterways in Highlands County and he loved to be with his family and friends. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Gabriele; son, Robert Gibbs; daughter- in-law, Katherine Gibbs; brother, William Joyner Gibbs; niece, Jennifer Gibbs Strange; niece, Brenda Gibbs Jones; great nephews, William Warren Gibbs; Daniel Christopher Strange; Michael Stephen Strange; Nicholas William Strange William Stanley Gibbs; great niece, Hannah Faith Gibbs; long life friends, Nina and Patty Summers. A gathering for the family and friends will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a service to celebrate Robert's life at 5:00 PM, Sunday July 17, 2016 with Father Antonio Jean officiating at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid, FL 33852.
