Obituary

Robert D. Ferry ("Bob"), 93, Lake Placid, FL went home to be with his Lord on Saturday May 17, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House, Sebring. Robert was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 14, 1932. He was the son of Lillian Angeline (Charleston) and James Francis Ferry.

Robert is a Veteran of the Korean War serving as a Radio Intercept Airman, United State Air Force. After returning from service, Robert attended Northern Illinois University where he earned his Bachelor, two Masters Degrees and obtained his Doctorate of Education (EdD). Robert worked as a Professor teaching at the Illinois Fire Services Institute at the University of Illinois, Champaign, the Chicago Police Academy, Lewis University in Romeoville, IL and Richard J. Daley College, Chicago IL.

Robert has been a resident of the Lake Placid area since 2005, moving from Estero, FL. He was a member of the Lakeview Christian Church, Lake Placid, American Legion Post 25 and the VFW. Robert was an avid reader, enjoyed teaching, and leading and participating in Bible studies. He also enjoyed researching and chronicling the Ferry and Charleston family histories, finding ties as far back as the American Revolution in Vermont.

Bob especially enjoyed traveling with his sweetheart and visiting his family and grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by the love of his life of sixty years, Bobbie Nell (Massey) Ferry. His six brothers James, William, John, Richard, Philip and Michael have preceded him in death. Robert and Bobbie are survived by their two daughters Sylvia Ferry (Timothy Whelan) and Cynthia Liber (Daniel Liber) and his four grandchildren Ryan (Inna), Christopher (Catherine Madden), Michael Whelan and Christina (Liber) Pease (Kyle) as well as his six great grandchildren Tacia, Sasha Nell, Nika, Noah, Enya and Lennon Whelan.

Services to celebrate Robert's life will be held at a later date with military honors provided by the U.S Air Force.
