Robert M. Bowden, 76, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Tuesday afternoon December 4th 2012 at the Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring. He was born in Washington, DC on October 31, 1936 to parents Eunice (Mason) and William T. Bowden, Jr. Robert served his country in the US Navy serving on the USS Forrestal Aircraft Carrier CV-59. He moved to Lake Placid in 2003 from Ft. Lauderdale after retiring from the transportation industry. Mr. Bowden enjoyed his ham radio, fishing, football, was an avid Dolphins fan and loved spending time with family and friends. Robert was a member and Deacon of the Eastside Christian Church of Lake Placid. Mr. Bowden is preceded in death by his loving wife Janet, son Timothy and is survived by his loving companion Elinor; son, Robert Bowden (Alison); step daughters, Diane Castanien (Craig) and Susan Cosens; grandsons, Mark and Mason Bowden and step granddaughter Elizabeth Cosens. A service to celebrate Robert's life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday December 8, 2012 at the Eastside Christian Church of Lake Placid 101 Peace Avenue Lake Placid with Pastor Ray Culpepper officiating.
