Robert Gene Adams, 82, of Lake Placid Florida and Albany, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord on Monday morning, April 27, 2026, at his Lake Placid residence surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born on May 24, 1943, in Bluffton, Indiana, and he was the son of Ruby (Shannon) and John Adams. Robert served his country with honors in the Indiana National Guard. He worked as a law enforcement officer in the K-9 division and retired with fifteen years of service in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After retiring from the police force, he went to work on the family farm in Delaware County. Indiana. He and his wife for 12 years went across the states entertaining with a 6-miniature horse hitch. Robert has been a resident of Highlands County for the 13 ½ years. Robert was of the Christian faith who enjoyed a great round of golf. He loved to be with his family and friends whenever they could get together. Robert is preceded in death by his (late wife) and he is survived by his loving wife; Voneta, daughter; Paula Eartly, stepdaughters; Joni Hornaday, Rene Watkins, Rita Thuornburg, stepson; John Shockley, 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a sister; Elanda Poff.
