Richard Lewis Woodhull Jr., 83, of Lake Placid, FL, formerly of Port Charlotte, FL, made his "final flight west" on Tuesday morning, February 17, 2026.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Denise; his children, Rebecca (Mealey), Richard, Charlie, Maxwell and Beth Ford, Jennifer and Frank Martin, and Jeffrey and Jennifer Ford; and sixteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who will dearly miss their "Papa." He is also survived by his brothers, George T. Woodhull (Ruthanne) and Terry Woodhull (Laura). He was predeceased by his brother, James Woodhull (Judy) and his son-in-law, Robert Mealey.

Dick was the son of Jean (Tuthill) and Richard Woodhull. He was born on eastern Long Island, NY, and grew up on his family's potato farm. While earning a degree in agricultural economics, he joined ROTC and learned to fly airplanes. He served his country as a United States Army lieutenant in Vietnam and, after his discharge, worked for United Airlines until his retirement.

Along the way, he built houseboats, established a wholesale nursery, became a real estate agent, and served as a life coach. His list of accomplishments was long and varied, but his legacy shines in the relationships he built along the way. He held his family dear and loved helping them grow into the best versions of themselves. His impact stretched beyond family to include several young men he mentored, leadership roles in the Presbyterian Church, and a variety of community activities. He cherished many diverse friendships across distance and time, often sharing his favorite activities—boating, fishing, golfing, and outdoor adventures.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Port Charlotte Global Methodist Church, 21075 Quesada Avenue, Port Charlotte, FL.
