Richard Joseph Pellegrini, Sr., 80, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Tuesday afternoon at his residence. He was born on December 23, 1933 in Great Barrington, MA to parents Freda E. (Springstube) and Olisse J. Pellegrini. Mr. Pellegrini served his country with eight years of service in the US Navy Seabee Unit with the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer with honors. Mr. Pellegrini moved to Lake Placid from Dania Beach, FL January 1, 2000 and was a retired truck driver. Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 186, Life Member of the VFW Post in Great Barrington, MA and was of the Presbyterian faith. He enjoyed driving the open road, lawn working around the house on his tractor, working on small engines, and loved spending time with both his family and friends. Mr. Pellegrini is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Celestina Missaggia; brother Olisse Pellegrini, Jr, and is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Mary; children, Roxanne Pellegrini, Richard J. Pellegrini Jr., Sharon Hughes, Jennifer Lister (Simon) and George Geisler (Kendra); 3 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lister, Chauncy and Timothy Hughes. A service to celebrate Richard's life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday November 16, 2014 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Rev. Ray Cameron officiating. Military honors will be presented by the VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard.
