In Loving Memory of Richard Dwain Dumer

Richard (Dick) Dwain Dumer, 82, of Lake Placid, FL passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Tuesday July 25, 2023, after a lengthy battle with kidney disease. He found comfort in the presence of his loving wife and grandchildren in his final days. Preceded in death by parents Florence and Lewis; brothers Gary Dumer, Bobby Heinrich, and brother-in-law Dick Pelletier. Dick is survived by the love of his life Cynthia, son; Michael (Diane) Dumer, daughters; Deborah (Bryant) Roberts and Jennifer Barnett; grandchildren Calvin Dumer, Erik (Abby) Dumer, Bridget Barnett, Seth Roberts, Drew Roberts, and the eagerly anticipated arrival of soon to be born great-granddaughter; sisters; Diane Pelletier and Beverly (Jim) Lau, brother; Donald (Joyce) Dumer; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Born on February 21, 1941, in Minneapolis, MN. Dick proudly served his country with honor as a jet engine mechanic in the United States Navy. Following his service, he worked as a plant manager in the envelope manufacturing industry until his well-deserved retirement. He has been a resident of Lake Placid since 2019 moving there from Long Key, FL. Dick had an adventurous spirit. He enjoyed fishing, scuba diving, hunting, horse-back riding, skiing, cribbage, travel, and driving his Bronco through the mountains of Colorado. He loved to be with family, friends, and especially his grandchildren, often being the life of the party. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to his best friend Quig, and all his dear friends in Florida for their support during these past 18 months. Many memories and happy hours were enjoyed on the beach in Long Key. A service to celebrate Dick's life will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN with the military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
