Obituary

Richard E. Adkins "Huddy" 78, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Saturday morning January 21, 2012 at the Lake Placid Health Care Center. He was born on February 24, 1933 in Dayton, OH to parents Carl and Eleanor (Hudson) Adkins. He served his country in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Adkins, a winter resident of Lake Placid for the past 13 winter seasons, coming from West Carrollton, OH. Mr. Adkins was a retired service technician with Ohio Bell with 41 years of employment. Huddy was a member of the VFW Post 3438 of West Carrollton, OH Men's Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars, member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the American Legion drill team honor guard and member of the American Legion Post 165 and attended the Community Church of God in Lake Placid. Huddy enjoyed fishing, traveling, Notre Dame sports, playing ball with Frankie and listening Frank Sinatra and loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Adkins is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Betty, daughters; Susan and Julie, sons; Terry, Jimmy, Joey and step son; Robert, 13 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and two brothers; Bob and Jack. A service to celebrate Huddy's life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday January 29, 2012 at the Community Church of God 735 S. Sun 'N Lakes Blvd. Lake Placid with Pastor Joseph Dehart celebrating.
