Obituary

Rexford Gene Darrow, 75, of Lake Placid, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, October 15, 2018, while surrounded by his loving family at his residence. Rexford, who was born in Canton, PA on June 3, 1943, was the son of Marian (Aumick) and Richard Darrow.

Rexford moved to Lake Placid in 2006 from Miami, FL after retiring as the principal of South Miami Elementary School. Rexford was a member of the Coconut Grove Masonic Lodge No. 258 F&AM, Lake Placid Moose Lodge 2137, and the Memorial United Methodist Church of Lake Placid.

One of Rexford's greatest passions was music. He was a member of The Barbershop Harmony Society, and sang in various quartets over the years. He delighted in opening up his home to friends, family, and especially to his beloved grandchildren.

Rexford is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara; son, Rexford Gene Darrow (Shannon); daughter, Caroline Sanabria (Edgar); four grandchildren: Soleil Sanabria, Heidi Darrow, Ciel Sanabria, Rexford Gene Darrow III; and sister, Connie Bates (Roland). Rexford will also be remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Rexford was known for his infectious bass laugh, abundant love for others, strength of character, and grit.

A service to celebrate Rexford's life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, Nov. 10, at Memorial United Methodist Church, 500 Kent Avenue, Lake Placid. Words of comfort to the family can be shared through this online guestbook. Arrangements entrusted to Scott Seawinds Funeral Home: 863-465-4134
