Randall Craig Ludwig, 65, of Lake Placid passed away at sunrise Wednesday November 5, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Randy was born on December 4, 1948 in Chicago, IL to parents Barbara and Howard Ludwig. He served his country with honors in the US Army during Vietnam. Randy was the owner and operator of Randall C. Ludwig, Inc. where he was a General and Underground Utility Contractor. He was a true Renaissance man - a gifted artist, ingenious inventor/problem solver, builder, spirited debater, and seeker of knowledge. He enjoyed cooking, boating, astronomy, science, reading, as well as helping and spending time with both his family and friends. Randy is survived by his loving wife Jackie of 47 years; daughters, Lisa Shillinglaw and Nikki Ludwig; his 3 dogs; brother Howard (Diane), close cousin Patrick Kusiak, and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by his many family members and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
