Phillip Margetts, 92, of Lake Placid, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the Southern Lifestyles in Lake Placid.  He was the son of Edna (nee Rathka) and Howard Margetts who was born on August 13, 1925 in Chicago, IL. He is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, sisters: Doris and Lorraine. Phillip served his country with honors in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Fleet.  Phillip was a retired head of facilities with the School District 87 in Glen Ellen, IL.  Phillip was active in the community, who could be seen at many of the local events.  He belonged to the Lake Placid Masonic Lodge, Highland Shrine Club, K.C. of Scottish Rite, Moose Lodge of Lake Placid, Lake Placid Elks Lodge, American Legion Placid Post 25, Lake Placid VFW Post 3880, an Honorable Kentucky Colonel. Phillip enjoyed coin collecting, and a good round of golf.  He is survived by his sister; Angeline Coon, loving children; James Margetts (Earlene), Sandy Rybacki (Norm Church), Susan Alexander (Vernon), and Robert Margetts (Juanita), eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren.  A gathering for family and friends will be held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Lake Placid Masonic Lodge where a Masonic Service, military honors by the US Navy and VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard to celebrate Phillip's life.  Further services and inurnment will take place this summer up north.  Words of comfort to the family can be made by visiting www.scottfuneralservices.com .  Arrangements entrusted with the Scott Funeral Home 504 W.
