Paul J. Lawing, 74, of Lake Placid, went home to be with his Lord on Monday afternoon February 3, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  Paul was born on June 6, 1945 to parents Berneice (Moninger) and Harry Eugene Lawing in Chicago, Illinois.  Paul served his country with honors in the US Army. Paul worked for General Motors for many years in the tool and die division and retired as a supervisor. He has been a resident of Lake Placid for the past 20 years moving here from Michigan.  Paul was an avid golfer who enjoyed a great round of golf on many of the local courses.  He loved to be around his family and friends anytime they could get together. Paul was of the Christian faith. He is survived by his loving sister; Lee Bayliss, two nephews; Dirk (Holly) and Jason Bayliss, three great nieces; Paige, Caitlyn, and Emily Bayliss, and two great nephews; Ryan and Tyler Bayliss. A gathering for family and friends  to celebrate and reflect on Paul's life will be held on February 29, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Tomoka Heights Club House 42 Indigo Drive, Lake Placid, Fl. Paul will be laid to rest with military honors provided by the US Army Honor Guard at the Acacia Park Cemetery in Birmingham, MI in July.
