Paul William Converse, 77, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday night, October 24, 2023 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring. Paul was born on January 24, 1946 in Elkhart, Indiana and was the son of Emma (Duncan) and Lawrence W. Converse. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 13 years Judy, stepdaughters; Kelli Magyar (Brian), Wendy Kolmorgen (Chris), 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sisters; Fawn (Gerald), Diana, and a brother; Larry (Carol), a sister in law; Anna Harrington and several nieces and nephews..  Paul served his country with honors in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam for two tours of duty. After military service, Paul worked for the Sheriff's Department and Elkhart, IN Police Department holding several positions including head of the Homicide Unit and Internal Affairs, where he retired with over thirty years of service. He has been a resident of Lake Placid for the past twelve years, moving here from Elkhart. Paul was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Lake Placid. He enjoyed going on hunting trips around the world, fishing the local lakes and was a two time qualifier for the Bass Masters championship. Paul loved to be with his family and friends anytime they could get together, especially time with his grandchildren. A service to celebrate Paul's life will be held at a later date in Elkhart, Indiana.
