Patrick Russell Halpin, aka "ph", 82, of Lake Placid passed away Friday, February 12, 2021. After posting on Facebook to friends that he'd be "tipping over soon", he entered Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring and passed away 3 days later.  He was born in Chicago on March 25, 1938 to Dorothy (Binchey) and William Halpin.   Pat was proud to have served as a US Marine and after returning to Chicago he worked as a Pipe Fitter with the Local 597 for the next 42 years.  After "retiring", Pat enjoyed calling himself a bar-owner, a shuttle driver, and tour guide before full retirement to Lake Placid where he had been a resident for the past 15 years.  He was loved for his storytelling, bringing people together for food and fun events, singing and perfectly timed jokes; he was admired for a loving 60 year marriage to his wife, Clare  and will be missed by friends at Lakeshore Tower II,  surviving family Nancy Brewer (Garth), Susan Halpin, Janet Surtees (Michael), 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brother John Halpin (Barbara), sister, Kathleen Bronson, and all those whose path he crossed over the years.
