Obituary

Norma (Nailor) Sheeran, 86, passed away on December 24, 2013. She was born in Albany, New York on September 28, 1927. She attended Woodlawn Elementary and Brandywine Junior High in Schenectady and Troy High School in Troy, New York. In 1948 she married Raymond Hall. That union produced three children, Donna, Kristy and Kathleen. In 1959 they divorced and she moved to Florida where she met and married Ed in 1961. Ed had two children by a previous marriage, Daniel and Ellen. In 1963 Ed took a position with the Grand Bahama Telephone Company and they moved, with all five children, to Freeport Bahamas. While in the Bahamas, Norma worked for The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and E. H. Mundy and Company. In her youth, Norma studied voice and became a professional singer and performed with may big bands while in her twenties. She continued to sing all her life and touched many hearts with her music. In 1986 Ed was transferred to Franklin, Virginia where, in 1991 they retired and moved to Stuart, Florida and finally in 2005 they moved to Lake Placid, Florida. Norma has been very active in many civic organizations. She was The Freeport Garden Club (President), The American Women's Club of Freeport, Then Freeport Players Guild, (President and honorary life member), The Stuart Florida Garden Club, The Lake Placid, FL Garden Club and The Women's Club of Lake Placid. They are both members of the Lake Placid Lodge of The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, (BPOE). She leaves behind her husband, five children, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was an inspiring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is cherished and will be missed. A service to celebrate Norma's life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday January 4, 2014 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with family and friends celebrating. The family suggest donations be made in Norma's memory to your favorite Hospice organization.
