Mearl G. Andersen, 86, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Friday afternoon March 27, 2015 at the Lake Placid Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of Elda (Lloyd) and James Blackburn and was born on June 6, 1928 in Rochester, NY. Mrs. Andersen worked in the restaurant business starting as a waitress and becoming the top manager of the Executive Dining room of Bache and Company in New York City. She also started a successful bed and breakfast in New York City. A snowbird since the 80s she loved her summer residence in Ilion, New York and her winter residence in Lake Placid, Florida. Mrs. Andersen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sebring. Mrs. Andersen enjoyed cooking and seeing the beauty of nature from her home overlooking the lake and loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Andersen is survived by her loving husband Andrew "Andy"; sons, Marc Mitchell and Leighton Mitchell and 4 grandchildren. A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Andersen's life will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., with Rev. Darrell Peer celebrating.
