Maurice James Moudy (James), 88, of Lake Placid, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the Advent Health Hospital in Sebring, Florida. James, son of Gladys (Tull) and Hubert Moudy, was born on October 10, 1936, in Claymont, Delaware. James had six siblings with him being the eldest: Tom, Judy, Robert (Butch), Gary, Sue, and Rick. Sue Dye, who is married to Mike, is the last surviving sibling.
James served his country, with honors in the United States Air Force. After serving in the armed forces, James went to work for the telephone company as a telephone installer, retiring after 20+ years.
James was married to Thelma Hinchliffe for over 45+ years. James and Thelma had one son, Shawn who served in the Army for 18+ years, when he was killed-in-action while serving overseas. Shawn is survived by his wife, Myong Sun, His daughter, Sandra Kem (Sam) and a grandson, Sammy. Myong and Sandy's family live in Watertown, New York.
After the passing of Thelma, James (Jim) met his second wife, Beverly Morrin through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Jim and Beverly had 10 wonderful married years before Jim died. Beverly Morrin Moudy has two adult children; a son, Douglas L. Morrin Jr. (Veronica) of Seattle, Washington; a daughter, Jennifer L. Morrin, of Newport, Delaware.
James is survived by his best friend (thought as a brother) Lee Halterman (Joan) of Newark, Delaware. James, Lee and Lee's family spent time fishing out West every year until just recently. James's hobbies included fishing, golfing, scuba diving, bowling, sight- seeing and reading, as well as, traveling as his age permitted.
Services will be at the Church of Latter-Day Saints in Newark, Delaware in January/February of 2025. Burial will take place at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware where friends and family may pay their last respects.
