Mattie B. Woods, 90, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord Thursday morning July 1, 2010 at the Lake Placid Health Care Center. She was born on October 4, 1919 in Rome, TN to parents Balentine and Mattie (Perry) Pardue. She and Charles were married in 1967 and lived in East Chicago, IN before retiring from Southern Bell Telephone Company and moving to Florida. She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake Placid, the Elks Lodge 2661 and the Telephone Pioneers. Mattie will be missed by her family and friends for her kind and loving manner. An angel on earth for all who knew her, Mattie walks at last with angels in heaven. Mrs. Woods is preceded in death by her husband Charles and is survived by her loving daughter; Linda Kinder, grandchildren Lynn Monique Hudspeth (Dan) of St. Louis, MO and Jason K. Violette (Chris) of Kansas City, MO, step grandchildren; Joe Kinder, John Kinder (Dee) and Jason Kinder all of the St. Louis MO area, great grandchildren; Daisy Hudspeth, Samantha and Matthew Kinder, step children; Tom and Patricia Woods, Linda Markas, David and Sue Woods and several grandchildren. Sister-in-law, Edith Hargrove of Ashland City, TN. A gathering for family and friends will be from 3-4 PM Friday (today) with services celebrating Mattie's life following at 4 PM with Rev. Jerry McCauley celebrating at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd. Lake Placid. The family suggests donations in Mattie's memory to the American Heart Association or the Breast Cancer Foundation.
