Obituary

Mary E. Thompson, 93, of Lake Placid, FL went to be with her Lord on Thursday afternoon July 11, 2013 at the Lake Placid Health Care Center with her daughter, very special friend Nancy Haston and Pastor Ray Cameron by her side. Mary was born on January 17, 1920 in Mulberry, KY to parents Clella Mae (O'Nan) and Claude Alvin Lindsey. She and her late husband Ralph moved to Lake Placid in May of 1988 from Crestwood, KY where she retired as a manager in the retail industry. Mrs. Thompson enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Lake Placid. She loved Florida and spent many happy times on Sanibel Island gathering seashells. Family members reaped the rewards as gifts of shell mirrors. Also for many years she was a quilter and made them entirely by hand. Mrs. Thompson is preceded in death by her loving husband Ralph W. Thompson; stepson, Ralph W. Thompson, Jr.; sister, Edna Mae Schaad and brothers, Chester, Buddy, Junior and Louis. She is survived by her loving daughter, Jewell Kadlec (Louis); several grandchildren including Donald L. and Douglas S. Wrighthouse; great grandchildren, Antonia Marie Wrighthouse, Connor Joseph Wrighthouse and Frances GaeLee Wrighthouse; sister, Dorothy M. Jones and brother, Kenneth A. Lindsey and many nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Mrs. Thompson's life will be held at a later date in Smithfield, KY where there will be an inurnment at the Smithfield Cemetery.
