Mary Ruth Council, 94, of Lake Placid went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at her residence. Mary was born on February 13, 1930 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Mary Neal (Brooks) and Kelly Eugene Blanton. Mary has been a resident of Lake Placid since 1996, moving here from Pompano Beach, Florida. She was of the Baptist faith and taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Pompano Beach for 30 years. She enjoyed the lake life, waterskiing, boating, swimming, dancing and sewing throughout her life. Mary loved to be with her family and friends anytime they could get together and was tireless in her devotion and care of those nearest to her. Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years Joseph, sister; Doris Ann Terrell and her brother; Dr. Kelly Blanton. Mary is survived by her loving children; Joseph Council II (Sylvia), Diane Council, James Council (Kathy) and her three grandchildren; Richard, Sean and Ryan. A graveside service to celebrate Mary's life will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Lake Placid with Chaplain Ken Turner officiating. Mary is greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
