Maris A. Bennis, 74, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Saturday morning December 5, 2015 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. She was the daughter of Harriet Casey and Roy Johnston who was born on August 15, 1941 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She moved to Lake Placid in 1986 from Minnesota, and worked here locally as a secretary in the grove business. Maris enjoyed being out on the boat fishing and loved to be with her family and friends. Mrs. Bennis was a member of the Ladies of the Elks Lodge 2661 and the First Assembly of God Lake Placid. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years Michael; daughter, Coffy Bennis; son, Mitchell Bennis (Sarah); two grandchildren, Wesley and Shane; three sisters and a brother. A service to celebrate Maris life will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the First Assembly of God 327 Plumosa Street, Lake Placid with Rev. Johnny Bryant officiating. The family suggests donations in Maris memory to the First Assembly of God Church.
