KOORNNEEF, Maria "Mary" Johanna, 83, of Lake Placid, Florida, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 21, 2011. She was born December 24, 1927 in s'Gravenzande, Holland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake, who passed away exactly one year ago to the day of his beloved wife.

Mary leaves behind a son, Edward Koornneef (Pamela); daughter Marian Gilde (Randy); son William Koornneef, along with eight adult grand children and ten great grand children.

Mary loved the Lord. Her life exemplified His presence as she supported her husband, loved her family and quietly served God day to day. We will all surely miss the sweet talks shared along with the wisdom she so openly offered when asked. She led by her example.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 25, 2011, between 5:00-7:00 pm at Scott Funeral Home; 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid, FL 33852. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 10:00am at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Placid; 117 N. Oak St., Lake Placid, Florida, 33852. Interment will follow for family at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mary contributed to many beloved missions, with her goal to introduce as many as possible to the love of Christ. In lieu of flowers, please heartfully consider a donation to your favorite charity.
