María “Liona” Aracas de Quintana, 89, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord on Monday, June 29, 2026, at her beloved “Lake House.” Born in Venezuela in 1937, Liona lived a life defined by love, resilience, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. During her final years, she found peace in the simple pleasure of sitting on the backyard patio, quietly gazing across the lake. She often smiled and said that its calm waters reminded her of her beloved Cunaviche, Venezuela—a place that forever held a special place in her heart. Liona was a respected and well-known seamstress whose extraordinary talent and dedication blessed countless people over the years. With her sewing machine, she transformed fabric into beautiful creations, but more importantly, she used her gift to bring happiness to others. Every garment she crafted reflected her patience, creativity, and the love with which she served those around her. Above all, Liona treasured her family. She was the heart of every gathering, offering wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. Her greatest legacy lives on in the values, strength, and love she lovingly stitched into the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those blessed to know her.
Liona is lovingly survived by her eight children, fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and four sisters, who will forever cherish her memory and carry her love in their hearts. One of Liona’s final wishes was that her children would always remain united, no matter where life might take them. Though they may be separated by distance, they honor her memory by remaining close in love, faith, and family, just as she taught them throughout her life. “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23. Her life was a thread of love that bound generations together, and that thread will never be broken. The family warmly invites relatives and friends to celebrate Liona’s life at a Memorial Service with Ashes Present at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Scott Funeral Home, 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Father Feliz Gonzalaz officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service time.
