Magdalene M. Minihan, 92, of Lake Placid went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Good Shepard Hospice House in Sebring, FL. Magdalene was born on April 10, 1932, in Scranton, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of Josephine (Pacini) and Joseph Mazzarella. She has been a resident of Lake Placid since November 2024, moving here from Ft. Lauderdale. She was a retired secretary with the City of Ft. Lauderdale where she had many years of service. Magdalene was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Lake Placid, The Society of St. Vincent DePaul, GFWC Lake Placid Junior Woman's Club and the Ladies of the Moose. Magdalene enjoyed swimming, dancing, traveling and taking cruises and loved to be with family and friends. Magdalene is preceded in death by her late husband Francis Minihan, and brothers; (Alfonse, Genare and Joseph); and she is survived by her loving daughters; Gemma Minihan; Lisa Aprea (John) and son, Joseph Minihan; four grandchildren; F. Hunter Rarick, Dalton J. Rarick, Shelby Nykiel (Adam); two great-grandchildren: Everest Nykiel and Lydia Nykiel; many nieces and nephews; and her dear partner and companion; Herbert "Sandy" Castor. The family will receive friends from 4PM to 6PM, Tuesday afternoon, January 28, 2025, at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd, Lake Placid. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church with 3880 Placid View Drive. A burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the GFWC Lake Placid Junior Woman's Club (P.O. Box 1418, Lake Placid, FL 33852) or Manna Ministries, 416 Kent Avenue, Lake Placid, FL 33852.
