Luella I. Dye, 87, of Lake Placid, FL went to be with her Lord on Tuesday morning May 12, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring. She was the daughter of Mabel Irene Griffin and Arien Dewey Cunningham who was born on August 7, 1927 in Clarksburg, WV. After becoming a wife and mother of 5 children, Mrs. Dye graduated from Glenville State College then lived two years in Tanzania with her husband and children. Following her return to the US, she attended the University of Kentucky and obtained a Master's Degree in Library Management. Mrs. Dye supervised the building of Craft Memorial Library in Bluefield, WV and served as Library Director until her retirement in 1987. During her career, Mrs. Dye served as President of the WV Library Association and the Quota Club and also belonged to the Rotary Club, the Logan and Mercer County Little Theater, and to the First Baptist Church of Bluefield WV, and later of Lake Placid (where she enjoyed singing in the choir). Mrs. Dye enjoyed her civic and church activities, used her free time to produce handcrafted items (quilts, knitted sweaters, clothing), and loved spending time with both her family and friends, Mr. & Mrs. Dye were snowbirds who started visiting Lake Placid, FL in the 1988-89 season and traveled widely with in their Airstream trailer across the US and Canada. Mrs. Dye is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Wilbur Dewayne Dye. She is survived by her loving children, Lynn L. Wright (Paul) of TN, Mary Beth Humes of FL, Eric D. Dye of WV, Thomas E. Dye (Kay) of FL and Dennis Dye (Gina) of WV; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and a sister Mildred Chapman of WV. The family will receive friends at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike Street Shinnston, WV, 26431 on May 22 (4-8 pm) with a graveside service to be held at the Lions Club Cemetery in Lumberport, WV on May 23 at 10:30 am.
