Lionel P. Martin, 79, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday August 7, 2019 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach. Lionel, the son of Porciana and Emile Martin, was born on August 8, 1939 in Cavaillon Cayes, Haiti. He has been a resident of Lake Placid for the past 16 years moving here from Ft. Lauderdale after retiring as a professor. Lionel was an active member at the St. James Catholic Church in Lake Placid. He was a poet, publishined author of two books, America vs. America and The Black Curse. He was an avid reader who enjoyed listening to all music, but especially classical music. Lionel loved to be with his family and friends anytime they could get together. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, Ginette Martin, born Rameau; His children and their spouses Therese and Anderson, Lionel and Cassandre, Paul and Marie Ange, Renee and Jose, and Carl and Courtney; His grandchildren; Paolo and Aline, Pascale and Anthony, Rachel, Thaina and Nelson, Fabienne, Ashley, Malcolm, Christina and Jamal, Joshua, Jordan, Jonathan, Brandon, Phillip, Chelsea, Isbella and Sophia, His two great-grandchildren; Aiden and Nino ; His sisters; Sabine Martin, Josette, Alberte; His brother Joseph Martin and wife Claudette; His sister in law, Faye Martin; To all his nieces and nephews; To all his cousins, To all the children who call him Papi Nol; To all the relatives and friends, he will be greatly missed. A visitation for the family and friends to reflect on Lionel's life will be from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the St. James Catholic Church 3380 Placid View Drive, Lake Placid with Father Victor Caviedes, Father Antonio Jean and Father Sean Mulcahy officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery. There will be a repass in the church hall after the burial.
