Lawrence "Joe" Plante, 78, of Sebring, FL died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at the Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring.  Joe was born on March 25, 1943 in Raymond, New Hampshire and was the son of Bessie (Hilliard) and Frederick J. Plante.  Joe served his country with honors in the United States Navy.  He then went to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he retired as a marine machinery mechanic.  After retiring Joe and Diane wintered in Florida and summered in Hill, NH.   He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4300 in Sebring FL., also a member of the American Legion post 25 Lake Placid FL. and Fraternal order of Eagles Aerie 4242 Sebring , FL.  Joe enjoyed building and fixing things, tinkering around the house, gardening and yard work, shopping the local stores looking  for great deals and cooking for his family and friends and attending the social events at the VFW.   He loved to take afternoon naps with the dog and spend time with his family and friends, especially time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joe was predeceased by his parents, sister Margaret Brown and sister in law Shirley Plante. Survived by his wife of 56 years Diane, sons; Michael (Jeanne) of Plaistow New Hampshire , Steven (Vickie) of Hill New Hampshire,  grandchildren,  Amanda, Rob, Caitlin, Heather, Megan, Jonathan, Zachary and Nicholas and great-grandchildren, a brother; Frederick R. Plante of Raymond, NH and a brother in law Thomas Brown of Orange, NH,  Brother  in law Warren (Chrystal) Beane, of Candia, NH a sister in law Donna Kelley (Bernard Hoyt), of Northfield, NH, Sister in law  Kelley Beane (Brian Fisher) of Manchester, NH. And several Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. A service will be held at a later date back in New Hampshire where he will be laid to rest in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire.
