Obituary

Kathryn Queen Myers "Queenie" 87, of Lake Placid, went to be with her Lord on Sunday morning November 25, 2012 at the Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center in Sebring. She was born on February 2, 1925 in Cedartown, GA to parents Kizzie (Dunwoody) and Hugh Queen. Her family moved to Florida when she was a young girl and was a resident of several cities including Miami, Kissimmee and Freeport, FL., moving to Sebring in 1988. Kathryn an avid writer wrote a column "Walk With Me" for the News Sun was a member of the Writers Group in Sebring. She volunteered many hours with the Ridge Area-Arc in Sebring and was of the Methodist faith where she felt blessed to serve with the Mary Martha group.. She enjoyed her many animals, and was known as the "Country Girl" to her family. Our loving mother is preceded in death by her loving husband George Myers; son, Wayne Myers; and grandson, Joshua Cooper. She is survived by her loving children, George Myers (Karen), Bonnie Shackleford (Harold) and Judy Cooper (Steve); a ray of sunshine to her grandchildren, Keith Myers, Chad Myers (Kathy), Misty Masengale (Ron), Annissa Whaley (Kip), Minette Martin and Shane Mines, a sparkle in 11 great grandchildren's eyes and an angel to her great-great grandchild. A service to celebrate Kathryn's life will be held 1:00 PM this Thursday November 29, 2012 at the Leisure Lakes Baptist Church 808 Gardenia Street, Lake Placid with Rev. Don Roberts officiating. The family suggest donations in Queenie's memory to the Ridge Area-Arc, 120 West College Drive, Avon Park, FL 33825.
