Kathleen J. Margetts, 87, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Sunday morning August 14, 2016 at the Lake Placid Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Margetts, daughter of Laida nee Soma and Martin Platt, Sr., was born on June 8, 1929 in Kilbourn, now known as Wisconsin Dells, WI. Her passion for cooking leads her to become an executive chef at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL. After retiring, Kathleen and her husband Phillip moved to Lake Placid in 1991 from Glen Ellyn. Kathleen was active in the community where she was a life member of the American Legion Lake Placid Post 25, past president of the VFW Post 3880 Ladies Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, Highlands Shine Club, Honorable Kentucky Colonel, Ladies of Tropical Harbor, Red Hatters and the Alter Guild at Trinity Lutheran Church. Mrs. Margetts enjoyed social activities, cooking, bowling, sewing, and loved being with her family and friends. Mrs. Margetts is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Phillip; children, James Margetts (Earlene) Sandy Rybacki (Norm Church), Susan Alexander (Vernon) and Robert Margetts (Juanita); 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate Kathleen's life will be held August 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church 25 Lakeview Street, Lake Placid with Rev. Richard Norris officiating
